HARTLEPOOL MAN DILLON KING CAUGHT IN CHILD SEX OFFENSES AND INDECENT IMAGES SCANDAL
In a disturbing case that has shocked the Hartlepool community, Dillon King, a 24-year-old man from Catcote Road, was found guilty of serious offences involving a minor girl and the possession of indecent images. The case, which was heard at Teesside Crown Court, revealed a pattern of predatory behavior that spanned several months in 2017, raising concerns about online safety and child protection.
According to court records, King engaged in online conversations with an underage girl via Snapchat, a popular social media platform.
During these exchanges, he used multiple aliases to conceal his identity and falsely claimed to be an 18-year-old college student.
Under this guise, he persuaded the girl, who was only 14 at the time, to send him numerous photographs of herself in her underwear and in various states of undress.
The court heard that King’s manipulative tactics included asking her to remove her clothes and underwear, which she admitted felt pressured to do.
The court was shown a selfie of the girl with the caption, “do you not mind the fact that I’m 14?” which was found on King’s phone.
Police investigations uncovered a total of 70 images of the girl on his mobile device, including 15 indecent photographs and three short videos.
These images were linked directly to the victim after police traced her through her school uniform, confirming her age and identity.
The police also discovered that King had uploaded an indecent picture of another child to the website Tumblr, which contributed to the case’s severity.
Prosecutor Harry Hadfield explained that King’s communication with the girl ceased if she refused to send photographs, indicating a coercive pattern.
The girl reported feeling pressured to send indecent images of herself, which King also reciprocated by sending her explicit pictures of himself.
The evidence painted a clear picture of child sexual exploitation, with King actively encouraging and participating in the distribution of indecent material involving minors.
King’s actions led to multiple charges, including causing child sexual exploitation, possessing 18 indecent photographs of a child, and distributing an indecent image of a child, all committed between June and October 2017.
He pleaded guilty to these charges, acknowledging his involvement in the disturbing activities.
In sentencing, Judge Peter Armstrong acknowledged King’s previous good record and his role as a caring individual, which contributed to him being spared immediate imprisonment.
Instead, King was sentenced to 20 months in prison, suspended for two years, and was ordered to undergo a sexual offender treatment program.
The judge emphasized the importance of addressing the distorted thinking that led to his behavior, stating, “What you need is assistance with your distorted thinking that it’s alright to behave like this.” Earlier in January 2019, King faced warnings of a potential prison sentence after admitting to inciting an underage girl to send indecent images of herself.
He also pleaded guilty to causing or inciting child prostitution or pornography, with the offences occurring between June and October 2017.
Additionally, he admitted to possessing 18 indecent photographs of a child on an iPhone 7 and distributing one such image during the same period.
Judge Simon Bourne-Arton QC, the Recorder of Middlesbrough, ordered that King be bailed until his sentencing scheduled for February 6, 2019, pending a full report on his case.
The case has raised serious concerns about online safety and the exploitation of minors, prompting calls for increased vigilance and protective measures in digital spaces.
