DIESEL GASKELL FROM TORQUAY ADMITS TO SEXUAL OFFENCES AGAINST CHILD AT EXETER CROWN COURT
In a serious development at Exeter Crown Court, Diesel Gaskell, an 18-year-old resident of Thurlow Road in Torquay, has formally admitted to committing multiple sexual offences involving a very young child. The court proceedings took place in May 2021, where Gaskell pleaded guilty to four separate charges that include engaging in sexual activity with a child under the age of 13, inciting a child to participate in sexual acts, and engaging in conduct aimed at perverting the course of public justice.
During the brief hearing, Gaskell, who appeared via a video link from custody, only responded to confirm his identity and to enter his pleas.
The court was informed that his defense lawyer, Mr.
Barry White, requested that a pre-sentence report be ordered to aid in determining an appropriate sentence.
Judge Peter Johnson agreed to this request and scheduled the sentencing hearing for August 3.
Judge Johnson also decided to remand Gaskell in custody until the sentencing date, emphasizing the gravity of the offences.
He noted that Gaskell would receive appropriate credit for his guilty pleas, and that reports would be prepared to assist the judge in making a fair and informed decision during the upcoming sentencing.
The case was adjourned, and Gaskell remains in custody pending further proceedings.
