DENNIS MCGOWAN: VILE SEXUAL PREDATOR FROM NORTHAMPTON FOUND GUILTY OF RAPE
A man accused of heinously assaulting an 18-year-old woman within the confines of his Northampton residence has been officially declared guilty, with authorities describing him as a 'vile and dangerous sexual predator'.Dennis McGowan, aged 38, was involved in a disturbing incident that took place in the early hours of August 2, 2019.
According to court proceedings, the victim was lured back to McGowan’s home in Billing Brook, Northampton, after being approached by a group of unidentified men.
Once there, she was subjected to a series of drinks, which appeared to be part of an effort to incapacitate her.
Subsequently, McGowan, along with the other men, engaged in a brutal sexual assault against her.
The court heard a distressing recording, lasting approximately one hour, made by the victim during her ordeal.
In this recording, she was heard repeatedly saying ‘no’ and was visibly crying, highlighting the severity of her distress and the non-consensual nature of the attack.
The jury was presented with this evidence during the five-day trial at Northampton Crown Court, which ultimately led to McGowan’s conviction.
Following the verdict, Detective Constable Andrea Taylor from Northamptonshire Police expressed her satisfaction with the outcome.
She stated, “I am so pleased that McGowan has been convicted for this sickening attack, where he took advantage of his victim’s vulnerability then proceeded to lie about what happened, putting her through the further ordeal of a trial.
I would like to pay tribute to the bravery and tenacity of the woman he attacked, she has been through a horrible experience but has been courageous and determined.” DC Taylor further emphasized the gravity of McGowan’s actions, saying, “McGowan has been shown to be a vile and dangerous sexual predator and I hope that his sentence reflects the severity of his offending.” Dennis McGowan, who resides at Mounts Court in Northampton, is scheduled to return to court for sentencing on July 27.
The case has drawn significant attention to issues of vulnerability and assault within the Northampton community, and authorities remain committed to ensuring justice is served for victims of such heinous crimes.
