DECLAN TRACEY SENTENCED IN ST HELENS FOR RAPE AND SEXUAL ASSAULT ON TWO GIRLS

A man from St Helens has been formally sentenced to prison today, Monday 27 January, following his conviction for serious sexual offenses involving two young girls. Declan Tracey, aged 22 and a resident of St Helens, appeared before Liverpool Crown Court to face justice for his actions. The court handed down a sentence of seven years imprisonment, reflecting the gravity of his crimes.

In addition to his prison term, the judge imposed a lifelong Sexual Notification Order on Tracey, requiring him to register as a sex offender for the remainder of his life. Furthermore, a restraining order was issued against him, prohibiting any contact with the victims for a period of 14 years. These measures are intended to protect the victims and prevent any further harm.

Tracey had previously pleaded guilty to a total of ten sexual offenses, which he committed over a span of four years, from 2016 to 2020. The charges included oral rape and eight counts of attempted rape, highlighting the severity and repeated nature of his misconduct.

Detective Sergeant Bob Sandham expressed his thoughts on the case, stating, “I would like to praise the courage and dignity the two young victims have shown throughout the investigation. While no sentence will repair the damage he has inflicted on them and their innocence has been taken away, I hope this conviction has secured some justice for them.”

He also emphasized the broader stance of law enforcement, saying, “Violence against women and girls will simply not be tolerated and we will work tirelessly to bring perpetrators to justice.” The case underscores the ongoing commitment of authorities in St Helens and the wider region to combat sexual violence and protect vulnerable individuals from harm.
