September 2017 Pensioner avoids prison 70-year-old David Kenneth Thorne of Main Road, Havenstreet has been sentenced to 12 months in prison, suspended for 2 years, after being found with 117 indecent images of children on his computer. Thorne appeared before the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court on 1st September charged with making an indecent photograph/pseudo-photograph of a child. It comes after a raid on his home discovered 54 Category A still and moving images, 45 Category B images and 14 Category C images – all made between 31st August 2011 and 31st October 2016 – on his PC and a number of discs. The pensioner has not only been given a suspended sentence but handed down a Sexual Offences Prevention Order, forced to sign the Sex Offenders Register for 5 years and undertake 35 sessions of probation. He must also pay costs of £450.
