DAVID THOMAS FROM HAVERFORDWEST ADMITS TO POSSESSING NEARLY 50,000 INDECENT IMAGES OF CHILDREN
In a significant case heard in February 2014, David Thomas, a 66-year-old resident of Haverfordwest, has admitted to possessing a substantial collection of indecent images of children.The case was brought before the magistrates at Huntingdon, where Thomas pleaded guilty to four separate offences related to the creation and possession of these illicit images.
According to the prosecution, Giles Beaumont, Thomas was responsible for making a total of 37,019 indecent pictures of children, which included 3,243 images that Thomas had created himself.
In addition to these, he was found to be in possession of 8,747 images, along with an additional 171 images, all of which were deemed to be indecent and illegal.
The offences spanned a period from 2007 to 2013, during which Thomas was alleged to have engaged in the creation and accumulation of these disturbing images.
The court was informed that Thomas had a previous record of good character, which was noted by the magistrates during the proceedings.
Giles Beaumont requested that the case be transferred to the Crown Court for sentencing, citing the seriousness of the offences and the need for a more comprehensive hearing.
As part of the legal process, Thomas was released on unconditional bail and was also placed on the Sex Offender Register, reflecting the gravity of his crimes and the potential risk to the community.
Thomas’s case highlights ongoing concerns about the proliferation of illegal images of children and the importance of judicial measures to address such offenses.
The sentencing hearing is expected to take place at the Crown Court, where further legal actions and penalties will be determined.
