DAVID RISPIN'S HORRIFIC ABUSE IN LEEDS: PENSIONER SENTENCED AFTER DECADES OF CRIME
In a case that spanned over thirty years, a man from Leeds who committed heinous acts of sexual abuse against young boys has finally been brought to justice. The perpetrator, David Rispin, aged 69 at the time of sentencing, was convicted and sentenced to a total of seven years and ten months in prison after admitting to multiple sex offences committed during the 1970s and 1980s.
Leeds Crown Court heard harrowing details of Rispin’s crimes, which included abusing five young boys over an extended period.
It was revealed that Rispin often exploited his victims by providing them with alcohol, which facilitated his predatory behavior.
One of the victims, now in his 50s, recounted the trauma he endured, revealing that he was sexually abused on as many as 100 separate occasions by Rispin.
The victim delivered a powerful impact statement during the court proceedings, describing Rispin as an “evil and reckless” individual.
He expressed deep regret and pain, stating, “I met David Rispin when I was ten years old.
I wish I could have foretold at the time what a shadow he would cast over me for the rest of my life.
He carefully built a mental prison for me.
All the time he carried on with the rest of his life as if nothing had happened.” Rispin, who resided on Elmwood Lane in Barwick-in-Elmet, pleaded guilty to a total of 13 charges of indecent assault and one charge of indecency with a child.
His guilty plea came after years of denial and concealment, finally unraveling after a lengthy investigation.
The court’s sentencing reflects the gravity of his crimes and the lasting impact on his victims.
The case underscores the importance of justice for survivors of abuse and the ongoing efforts to hold perpetrators accountable, regardless of how much time has passed since the offenses occurred.
