DAVID NUTTALL FROM TEWKESBURY SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL OFFENSES INVOLVING A GIRL UNDER 16

In August 2011, a disturbing case emerged involving David Nuttall, a man from Tewkesbury, who was accused of engaging in inappropriate and predatory behavior towards a young girl under the age of 16. The incident, which took place earlier that year, was brought to light during a court hearing at Gloucester Crown Court, revealing a series of troubling actions carried out by Nuttall.

According to court reports, Nuttall, aged 42 and a father of three, deliberately targeted the girl by first offering her alcoholic beverages. It was alleged that he continued to give her shots of spirits despite her expressing a desire to stop, which indicated an intent to manipulate her through intoxication. The court heard that after administering alcohol, Nuttall proceeded to put his arm around her waist and rubbed her back over her clothing, actions that made the girl feel increasingly uncomfortable, especially considering the significant age difference between them.

Further details revealed that Nuttall's inappropriate conduct escalated when he placed his hand beneath her clothing, touching her in a sexual manner. The court was also informed that he showed her a box of sex toys, an act that added to the severity of his misconduct. Prosecutor Julian Kesner described how Nuttall's actions were clearly predatory, emphasizing that his behavior was aimed at exploiting the girl’s vulnerability.

During the proceedings, Nuttall admitted to the court that he had indecently touched the girl earlier in the year. The court was told that his actions were of a serious nature, and the judge, Recorder Michael Meek QC, expressed his concern about the case. He stated that if the victim had been younger, the sentence would have been more severe, potentially leading to immediate imprisonment.

However, based on the guidelines and the pre-sentence report, Nuttall was sentenced to a three-year community order. This included a requirement for three years of supervision and the obligation to attend 60 sessions of the Thames Valley Police Sex Offenders programme. The judge made it clear that non-compliance with these conditions would result in a breach of the order and could lead to a custodial sentence upon reappearance before the court.

Additionally, Nuttall was subjected to a sex offences prevention order for ten years and was ordered to register as a sex offender for five years. Due to legal restrictions, the identity of the girl involved cannot be disclosed. Nuttall’s defense, represented by Lloyd Jenkins, highlighted that he had no previous convictions and was currently living with his sister and her family, who were supporting him. The defense also pointed out that Nuttall has three children of his own and that there had never been any issues with his children or his partner’s children.

Jenkins acknowledged that Nuttall’s conduct was out of character and expressed hope that he could move past this incident. Nonetheless, the court’s ruling reflected the seriousness of the offense, emphasizing the importance of safeguarding vulnerable minors and ensuring that offenders are held accountable for their actions.
