DAVID MILLAN SENTENCED TO 18 YEARS IN PRISON FOR CHILD SEX ABUSE IN NORTHAMPTON
In a case that has shocked the Northampton community, David Millan, a 65-year-old resident of Brunswick Place in the town centre, has been sentenced to a lengthy prison term of 18 years for a series of heinous sexual offenses involving three vulnerable children. The sentencing took place at Northampton Crown Court on Friday, November 13, following a conviction that highlighted the severity and duration of his crimes.
Millan’s crimes included the sexual abuse of three children whose ages ranged from 14 to 16 at the time of the offenses.
He was found guilty of a total of 18 separate charges, which encompassed engaging in sexual activities with a minor, distributing indecent images of a child, and paying for sexual services from a minor.
The court heard that Millan had meticulously groomed the families of his victims to gain their trust, a calculated strategy aimed at facilitating his abusive behavior.
His arrest in November 2019 was prompted by a report from one of his victims, which led authorities to investigate and subsequently charge him.
Throughout the proceedings, it was revealed that Millan was under the supervision of the local police’s MOSOVO (Management of Sexual or Violent Offenders) team, indicating ongoing monitoring due to prior concerns about his behavior.
During the trial, the court was presented with evidence of Millan’s manipulative and calculating conduct.
Despite the overwhelming evidence against him, he maintained his innocence, protesting his innocence throughout the proceedings.
The judge, His Honour Judge David Herbert, did not accept his claims, condemning his actions and characterizing his attitude as devoid of remorse.
In his sentencing remarks, Judge Herbert stated, “You have no shame for what you have done and you are entirely without remorse.
You have trampled all over the principles of human decency.” The judge emphasized the seriousness and prolonged nature of the abuse, reflecting the community’s outrage and the court’s condemnation of Millan’s actions.
As a result, Millan will serve a minimum of 10 years and 8 months before being eligible for parole, marking a significant step in the justice process for his victims and the residents of Northampton.
