April 2004 ‘Manipulative’ paedophile jailed A Nottingham man described as a highly dangerous paedophile has been jailed for 12 years. David Matthews, from Lenton, admitted indecently assaulting a young girl, and breaching a restraining order. The 45-year-old also pleaded guilty to not telling police when he was not at his address. Nottingham Crown Court heard he deliberately befriended two families to gain access to children. Matthews had prior convictions for offences against children. Judge Michael Pert told him he had ignored the terms of a previous court order by doing a job selling newspapers and by targeting families with children. He said Matthews had lulled the adults into believing he was a friend who could be trusted when in fact he was a determined and manipulative paedophile.
