DAVID HOULDSWORTH AND SHOCKING SEXUAL OFFENSES IN YORKSHIRE
A man from Keighley, identified as David Houldsworth, has been sentenced to two years in prison following his arrest in connection with a Facebook sting operation. The 58-year-old resident of Skipton Road was found to have committed serious offenses involving inappropriate online communications with minors.
Houldsworth pleaded guilty to two charges: engaging in sexual communication with a child and inciting or causing a child to participate in sexual activities.
These charges stem from a lengthy investigation that spanned over two years, during which authorities meticulously gathered evidence to build a case against him.
The sentencing took place at Bradford Crown Court, where Houldsworth was handed a two-year prison term.
Beyond his incarceration, he will be required to register as a sex offender for a decade, a measure designed to monitor and restrict his activities post-release.
Additionally, he will be subject to a sexual harm prevention order, which imposes restrictions on his behavior to protect the community from potential harm.
Detective Constable Adam Flaxington, a member of the Bradford district policing online investigations team, commented on the case, stating, "This was a lengthy, two-year investigation and I welcome the guilty plea and sentence the court has handed down." He further explained, "In Houldsworth’s conversations, he demonstrated clear intent to commit sexual offenses against young children.
It is fortunate that the person he believed he was speaking with was not a child, which prevented further harm." This case highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement agencies in Yorkshire to combat online grooming and protect vulnerable minors from exploitation.
Authorities continue to urge the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious online activity to prevent similar incidents in the future.
