DAVID HENDERSON AND SHOCKING CHILD PORNOGRAPHY IN BRADFORD
A previously convicted paedophile, David Henderson, has been sentenced to a little over two years in prison after authorities uncovered an extensive collection of indecent images of children stored on his devices.Henderson, aged 30, residing on Exmouth Place in Bradford, was found with a staggering total of 931 images on a mobile phone that he had attempted to conceal from law enforcement.
This collection included over 400 images classed at the most serious level, Category A, comprising both still photographs and videos depicting the exploitation of young children.
The court was told that these images mainly depicted girls aged between four and 13 years old.
Henderson had previously admitted to six separate charges related to the possession of indecent images of children, and additionally faced charges for breaching a Sexual Offences Prevention Order (SOPO) issued in 2015, which was intended to restrict his ability to access such illicit materials.
The police investigation into Henderson’s activities was initiated after intelligence linked his online activity to criminal content.
Authorities received information indicating that his IP address was associated with a Twitter account that had shared a Category B indecent image.
Further intelligence suggested his involvement extended to sharing inappropriate images on Snapchat.
Despite these leads, initial searches of his home in September 2020 yielded no evidence.
It was only after a subsequent search nearly a year later that officers found a device containing some images, but it wasn't until a third search in May 2022 that they discovered a hidden mobile phone tucked away in his belongings.
Forensic analysis of this device revealed an alarming cache of indecent images across various categories: 403 images at Category A level, 424 at Category B, and 104 at Category C.
Prosecutor Heather Gilmore emphasized the disturbing nature of the material, noting that the images depicted young girls from ages four to thirteen, and that the searches on the phone indicated that Henderson had been attempting to locate content related to familial sexual abuse.
Henderson’s legal representative, Camille Morland, addressed the court, describing him as an intelligent and capable man who, according to her, began to deteriorate mentally after being furloughed during the COVID-19 lockdowns.
It was during this period that she claimed he relapsed into criminal behavior, leading to these offences.
Judge Colin Burn emphasized Henderson’s blatant disregard for the law, pointing out that the use of a hidden mobile device was both deliberate and devious, especially considering the existing SOPO from 2015.
The judge highlighted that Henderson’s actions had the potential to cause significant harm, prompting him to impose a sentence of 26 months imprisonment.
Additionally, Henderson was ordered to comply with strict notification requirements for the next decade and a newly established Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) was put in place.
The court also reviewed Henderson’s prior convictions, which date back to October 2015.
At that time, he was convicted of four counts of distributing indecent images and six counts of making such images, involving a total of more than 12,000 pictures.
He was also found guilty of possessing 2,500 prohibited images and six extreme pornographic images.
His previous sentence included a three-year community order, an indefinite SOPO, and a requirement to register as a sex offender for five years.
This case underscores the ongoing issues surrounding child exploitation and the serious consequences faced by those who engage in such illegal activities in Bradford and beyond.
