PERVERT RAPIST SENTENCED TO 18 YEARS FOR BRUTAL ATTACKS IN SHREWSBURY
A man named David Gorman, aged 38, was convicted of a series of serious sexual offenses including the rape of a woman in her home in Shrewsbury.The court heard that Gorman attacked the woman after stalking her and attempting to trick his way into her house.
He then violently bound, gagged, and blindfolded her, subjecting her to sexual assault.
The jury found him guilty of two counts of rape and one of indecent assault.
He was also convicted of burglary with intent to rape and four counts of attempted burglary with intent to rape.
Gorman had previously engaged in voyeuristic activities, filming women without their consent in Shrewsbury and at his workplace.
His crimes included attacking a mother in her home while her two-year-old son watched, as well as a separate assault on a young woman at a holiday caravan site in Perranporth, Cornwall, where he was armed with a knife and masked.
Mr.
Justice Butterfield described Gorman as a very dangerous man, noting his intelligence and perverted sexual desires.
Gorman was sentenced to 18 years in prison for the Shrewsbury offenses and an additional six years for the Cornwall incident, to be served consecutively.
He was ordered to register as a sex offender indefinitely.
Authorities expressed shock at Gorman's previously good character and community ties, emphasizing that he was a danger to the public and highlighting the careful planning involved in his attacks.
