DAVID DUNCAN'S SHOCKING ABUSE IN DUNDEE: PENSIONER SENTENCED FOR CHILD SEX OFFENSES IN SCOTLAND AND SPAIN
A 77-year-old man from Dundee, David Duncan, has been sentenced to prison after a series of disturbing sexual offenses committed against young girls over a span of more than a decade. The crimes, which include repeated abuse of minors during sleepovers and other clandestine encounters, have shocked the local community and prompted a strong law enforcement response.According to court records, Duncan targeted vulnerable children in Dundee, as well as in Angus and even abroad in Spain. One particularly heinous incident involved him abusing a four-year-old girl in a parked car outside a school, an act that has left a lasting scar on the victim and her family. The details of these offenses emerged during a court hearing, where the severity of Duncan’s actions was laid bare.
During the proceedings, tensions ran high in the courtroom. Spectators in the public gallery became so enraged by Duncan’s actions that they attempted to reach him physically, prompting the court to call in additional police officers to maintain order. The hearing was a stark reminder of the community’s outrage and the gravity of the crimes committed.
At the time of the sentencing, Duncan’s mental health was a significant factor. He had recently been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease, a condition that complicates his ability to participate in rehabilitation programs. In interviews with social workers, Duncan initially denied the allegations, claiming that the accusations were false. However, he later admitted to engaging in lewd, indecent, and libidinous practices between 2007 and 2023, acknowledging the full extent of his misconduct.
Sheriff Alastair Carmichael addressed the court, stating, “Your abuse of these children involved the repeated touching of their private parts. You have been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, which means you are not suitable for unpaid work and are not suitable for participating in the sex offenders programme. Your sexual abuse of these two girls when you were in a position of trust was so serious that only a custodial sentence is appropriate. Only a custodial sentence will reflect the public’s abhorrence for such behaviour.”
As a result, Duncan was sentenced to a total of 27 months in prison. Additionally, he was ordered to be placed on the sex offenders register for a period of ten years, ensuring ongoing monitoring of his activities and preventing further harm to vulnerable individuals. The case underscores the importance of vigilance and justice in protecting children from predators, regardless of age or health conditions.
