CORNWALL GP DR DAVID CARTLAND ERASED FROM MEDICAL REGISTER FOR HARASSMENT AND DISHONESTY
A medical tribunal has permanently removed Dr David Cartland from the medical register following a hearing into serious professional misconduct.Dr Cartland had been found to have harassed three doctors and a practice manager through social media platforms such as X, Gettr, and Instagram between 2022 and 2025.
The tribunal declared that he had behaved dishonestly in offering Covid-19 exemption certificates to individuals without valid medical exemption, an act he did not accept as dishonest.
Furthermore, Dr Cartland questioned the safety of the Covid-19 vaccine and made false allegations against other healthcare professionals, including calling one a "sexually interested in sheep" and labeling another an "evil witch".
He also made unfounded accusations relating to paedophilia, which the tribunal described as "despicable allegations" with "absolutely no foundation".
The panel highlighted that he had acted dishonestly by providing Covid exemption certificates to people without medical reasons, which amounted to serious misconduct.
Although he was highly qualified and had an exemplary record, his online conduct led to immediate suspension and the ultimate removal from the medical register.
Dr Cartland admitted to reacting poorly and expressed that he had been subjected to an abusive campaign online.
The tribunal concluded that his conduct undermined public confidence and damaged the reputation of the medical profession.
The outcome of the hearing was immediate erasure with a 28-day window for appeal.
