STALKER JAILED AFTER POSTING HUNDREDS OF VIDEOS
On Tuesday, April 14, David Carron of Fane Drive, Berinsfield, Wallingford, was sentenced at Oxford Crown Court for multiple offences. The 32-year-old pleaded guilty to stalking behaviours both without causing fear, alarm, or distress, and with such effects sharing an intimate photo, and assaulting an emergency services worker.
Prosecutor Alexandra Bushell detailed that the first stalking charge involved his former partner over a period between December 2022 and March this year.
The pair had a relationship lasting about 15 years, with previous episodes of violence, although they had been separated for roughly five years when the stalking occurred.
Carron had sent the woman, who was no longer his partner, abusive messages, including claims that her daughter was his.
He also sent her a TikTok message asserting his importance in her life, saying, "You know you love me, I’m the only one for you." The second victim was a woman from the locality who became the target of Carron's obsession after she purchased him cigarettes at a Co-op.
He made numerous Facebook friend requests and was seen loitering around her residence.
Carron created over 300 TikTok videos about her, claiming they were involved romantically, which scared her significantly.
She stated, "I'm so scared about what he might do to me." A victim impact statement described her fear, trauma, and loss of safety at home, along with emotional distress and concern about ongoing threats stemming from Carron’s conduct.
The court was informed that Carron had an extensive criminal record, including 11 convictions across 17 offences.
His assault conviction stemmed from spitting at a custody officer at Abingdon Police Station.
Defense lawyer Kelly Purcell-Chandler told the court that Carron had made 347 videos and expressed remorse, citing his deteriorating mental state since 2024.
She touched on his past convictions but was interrupted by Carron, who declined further legal representation.
Judge Ian Pringle KC sentenced Carron to 29 months in prison, coupled with a 10-year restraining order, warning him to maintain distance from the victims and prevent further distress.
