September 2020 Convicted paedophile is back behind bars after breaching sexual harm prevention order A convicted paedophile is back behind bars after breaching the terms of a sexual harm prevention order – three years after he was jailed for vile offences. David Brown, 30, of Barnby Avenue, Lower Grange, appeared at Bradford Crown Court via video link yesterday to be sentenced. The court heard he had previous convictions for possessing indecent images of children, and causing a child to engage in sexual activity and inciting a child to engage in sexual activity. In 2017, the pervert looked up train times for a 14-year-old girl to travel from her home in South Wales to meet up with him for sex, telling her to wear her school uniform. He was jailed for four years, ordered to sign on the sex offenders’ register for life and the judge made a Sexual Harm Prevention Order without limit of time. In August, 2015, Brown was sentenced to a three year community order for 12 offences of possession of indecent images of children and intimidating a witness in a rape investigation that was later dropped. He was made the subject of a five year Sexual Harm Prevention Order and ordered to sign on the sex offenders’ register. The latest offending emerged on his release from prison. He was placed under police supervision and during a visit to his house was caught trying to delete a photo gallery from a Samsung phone, which contained a significant amount of porn. It was sent away for forensic examination and there was found to be content which had been deleted in breach of the order. He had also installed an app called Teen Chat – a messaging app for youngsters between 13 and 19. He gave police a password for the site, but it was wrong, so chats could not be extracted. Text messages also emerged, which had been deleted, where he had contacted a girl who called herself Emily, who was not identified as a particular individual, but said she was 14 years old. He told her to keep their conversations a secret and steered it on to sexual matters, asking if she was a virgin, offering to send a picture of his erect penis and asking to her send images of herself topless, which she refused. Brown was released under investigation and was visited by police on June 12, when officers discovered a Kindle Fire which had been purchased eight days earlier and he had not told police about, again in breach of the order, and which contained different messaging apps. When speaking with one 14-year-old, who said she lived in New York, he told he was a 13-year-old boy. A pre-sentence report found there was not an option for a non-custodial sentence. He pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing to the breaches, which he received a sentence of three years for, and also pleaded guilty to attempting to cause a child to watch a sexual act. He received 12 months for that offence, with an extended licence period of four years. Judge Richard Mansell QC said this was necessary to protect the public, particularly, young and teenage girls. March 2017 Four years in jail for paedophile who sent ‘disgusting’ messages to schoolgirls An already convicted paedophile who told a 14-year-old girl to wear her school uniform when she travelled to Bradford to meet up for sex has been jailed for four years. David Brown, 26, chatted to two children on Kick Messenger, persuading them to send him indecent photos of themselves, Bradford Crown Court heard. Brown, of Newcastle House, Barkerend Road, Bradford, pleaded guilty to causing the 14-year-old girl to engage in sexual activity and inciting her to engage in sexual activity, on November 9 last year. Later that same evening, he contacted a girl aged 15 “badgering” her for a naked photo and then sending 15 more messages asking where the picture was. He pleaded guilty to causing a child to engage in sexual activity in relation to that messaging. When he was arrested on November 26, the police found three indecent images of children on Brown’s phone, prosecutor Camille Morland told the court. He admitted being in possession of a Category B movie of a child and a Category B and C photo. In August, 2015, Brown was sentenced to a three year community order for 12 offences of possession of indecent images of children and intimidating a witness in a rape investigation that was later dropped. On that occasion he was made the subject of a five year Sexual Harm Prevention Order and ordered to sign on the sex offenders’ register. Miss Morland said Brown looked up train times for the 14-year-old girl to travel from her home in South Wales to meet up with him for sex. He told her to wear sexy clothes and bring her school uniform, later suggesting that she wear it so he could “take her out of it.” Her parents intervened, telling Brown the police had been informed. Brown was supported by his family, who were devastated that he had let them down by re-offending. The Recorder of Bradford, Judge Roger Thomas QC, said the Kick Messenger phone conversations were “disgusting and disgraceful.” Brown was ordered to sign on the sex offenders’ register for life and the judge made a Sexual Harm Prevention Order without limit of time. August 2015 Bradford man with ‘distorted thinking’ sentenced for possessing indecent images of child A MAN who had indecent images of a child on his phone has been given a high intensity community order to tackle his distorted thinking. Police found the images after arresting David Brown for witness intimidation, Bradford Crown Court heard today. Prosecutor David McGonigal said the intimidation offence occurred after 25-year-old Brown had been arrested for allegations of sexual matters, of which he was later acquitted. Brown contacted the complainant on a social media chat site, using the name David X and pretending to be someone else, and arranged to meet her in Bowling Back Lane, Bradford. He became threatening and said he would send pictures of her to other people. She reported the matter to police. Mr McGonigal said police found a file on Brown’s phone, named David’s Images. It contained six images and four moving images at the most serious category A level; two images and one moving image at category B and 19 category C images. Brown, of Otley Road, Barkerend, Bradford, pleaded guilty to intimidation and 12 counts of possessing indecent photos of a child. Judge Jonathan Durham Hall QC sentenced Brown to a three-year community order, with a 60-day high intensity activity programme, a five-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order, and ordered him to register as a sex offender for five years. Judge Durham Hall said he wanted the matter referred back to him within 56 days to ensure Brown was engaging with the probation service. He said: “The only reason I am imposing this is so that he can work with people to address his distorted thinking.”
