CROYDON PERVERT WHO SECRETLY FILMED WOMEN AND SCHOOLGIRLS ON TUBE AND TRAMS SPARED JAIL
A pervert who secretly filmed women and schoolgirls on Tubes and trams before he was caught red-handed has avoided jail.David Brazia-Amaro, 25, from Croydon, used his mobile phone to record footage of victims and stored the clips on his laptop.
He was snared last June after being caught by an off-duty British Transport Police officer trying to film up one woman’s skirt at East Croydon station.
Brazia-Amaro was arrested, and his mobile phone and laptop were seized.
Police subsequently found additional videos of women and schoolgirls who were filmed while traveling on the Tube and trams.
One woman was even recorded in a changing room.
He pleaded guilty to five charges of outraging public decency and a separate offence of voyeurism at Southwark Crown Court.
On Friday, he received a four-month suspended sentence and a number of community penalties including 80 hours of community service and 60 days of unpaid work.
He will also remain a registered sex offender for the next seven years.
Investigating officer PC Mark Luker from BTP’s sexual offences unit stated: “The behaviour of Brazia-Amaro is indefensible and I am pleased one of our officers was able to spot him in the act.
No-one should be subject to unwelcome sexual behaviour on the rail network and we will do everything in our power to find those responsible and, as in Brazia-Amaro’s case, bring them before the courts.”
