MAN JAILED FOR 28 YEARS FOR DECADE-LONG CHILD ABUSE
A man who inflicted abuse on two young children over a span of 15 years has been sentenced to prison after an investigation carried out by detectives from the Metropolitan Police.
Anthony Adewale Sobogun, aged 61 (born 4 March 1965), residing on Thistlewood Crescent in Croydon, received a 28-year prison sentence at Inner London Crown Court on Wednesday, 15 April.
Sobogun was previously convicted of 17 historical sexual abuse charges involving the two children.
The offences included multiple instances of sexual activity with a girl under the age of 13, along with the act of rape against a minor.
His abusive behaviour took place during the 1990s and early 2000s, with the victims known to him personally.
One of the survivors recounted that Sobogun had even accompanied her to an abortion clinic after she became pregnant with his child.
Following her account, investigators accessed her medical records confirming the procedure's occurrence, and examined counselling notes that documented her ongoing sexual abuse.
Sobogun was taken into custody in the early hours of July 2, 2025.
He faced charges and was convicted after a comprehensive investigation by officers who adopted a victim-centred approach, fostering trust, collecting evidence, and ensuring survivors' voices were heard in court.
