DAVID ALMOND SENTENCED IN WIRRAL FOR CHILD SEX ABUSE
In March 2020, a woman who was a victim of sexual abuse by David Almond, a man from Greasby, Wirral, delivered a powerful and emotional statement in court, describing the profound impact of his actions on her life. Almond, aged 76, was arrested in 2017 and faced multiple charges related to his abuse of minors during the 1980s and 1990s.He was formally charged with eight counts of indecent assault and four counts of indecency with a child. The case was brought before Liverpool Crown Court, where Almond stood trial for his crimes. The court proceedings revealed that Almond had sexually assaulted three girls and one boy, all of whom were under the age of 14 at the time of the abuse.
Following the trial, Almond was sentenced to a total of 13 years in prison, with an additional year on license, reflecting the severity of his offenses. The court also imposed a lifetime Sex Offenders Order on him, ensuring ongoing restrictions and monitoring to protect the community.
