At Ipswich Crown Court, Darren Summers was sentenced to prison after admitting to stalking his ex-partner and causing her distress through a pattern of harassment.
The case was scheduled for a second day when Summers changed his plea, acknowledging one count of stalking aimed at eliciting fear and alarm, as well as six counts of criminal damage.
The court was informed that Summers, a father of five children, carried out a series of damaging acts and stalking in September and October of the preceding year, targeting property belonging to his ex-partner, her mother, and her employer.
During the hearing, the woman read a statement describing how her sense of safety was severely diminished, leading her to withdraw her children from school for protection.
Judge Levett told Summers: “You are entirely obsessed with yourself and your own needs.
She lived in fear of what would happen next because you said to her, ‘You’ve got worse to come’.”
