A man who stalked his former partner, threatening her with an axe and a knife, has been sentenced to 16 months in prison.
Bolton Crown Court was informed that Hammersley, 44 years old and residing on Carslake Avenue in Heaton, sent numerous threatening text messages to his ex-partner Monique Brennan, including threats of violence, and tracked her movements around Bolton town centre over a two-month period during the summer.
His abusive conduct persisted until Ms Brennan disabled her phone to avoid his calls.
On July 25, he appeared at her house wielding an axe, prompting her to flee.
He also followed her twice through town, issuing threats to kill, and was present outside her residence on July 29, where he seized her by the hair, threatened to set her house on fire, and pointed a knife at her before breaking down in tears.
Hammersley admitted to charges of harassment and attempting to interfere with the judicial process.
Additionally, he asked his daughter to meet with Ms Brennan, trying to persuade her to withdraw her complaint.
The court issued a restraining order of indefinite duration, forbidding him from making contact or approaching within 200 metres of Ms Brennan's home.
