MAN SENTENCED TO OVER 30 YEARS FOR SERIOUS SEXUAL OFFENCES
A man aged 47 from East Cornwall has been sentenced at Truro Crown Court on Monday, 27 March, after being convicted of numerous sexual offenses.
Danny Owen, residing on Maddever Crescent in Liskeard, received a 34-year prison term from Judge Robert Linford for crimes committed against young girls over a span of two decades.
This sentencing follows a 17-day trial held in February 2023, during which the jury convicted Owen of 24 charges involving four different victims.
He was also acquitted of five charges related to two other individuals.
Owen’s sentence includes 28 years in prison plus an additional six years on license.
Evidence presented in court detailed how Owen inappropriately touched some victims and falsely claimed such behavior was normal.
The abuse intensified to rape in some cases, with Owen forcing himself on victims and instructing them to stay silent.
The victims ranged in age from five years old to early teens at the time of the incidents.
The court heard that Owen’s control and abusive conduct persisted over extended periods, sometimes spanning months or years.
Throughout the investigation, Owen denied all allegations during interviews, claiming he did not understand why the victims would accuse him of such acts.
