DANIEL THOMAS FROM LLANDRINDOD WELLS SENTENCED FOR ABUSIVE SEXUAL CRIMES INVOLVING TWO 14-YEAR-OLD GIRLS

In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Llandrindod Wells, Daniel Thomas, aged 24, was sentenced to a decade behind bars for heinous crimes involving two underage schoolgirls. The court heard how Thomas had groomed both girls, who were only 14 years old at the time, through social media platform Facebook, where he persistently solicited explicit photographs and engaged in sexual activities with them.

According to the prosecution, Thomas's misconduct extended beyond online grooming. He had sexual intercourse with one of the girls while she was pregnant with his child, a revelation that added a deeply troubling dimension to the case. The mother of the pregnant girl attempted to intervene, trying to prevent further contact between her daughter and Thomas. Despite police issuing an abduction notice that explicitly prohibited him from having any contact with the girl, Thomas continued his inappropriate behavior.

The court was informed that Thomas had impregnated the girl, who subsequently underwent an abortion at a hospital. The timeline of events indicates that around the same period, Thomas invited the second girl to his residence in Llandrindod Wells. Witnesses testified that the two smoked cannabis together before Thomas began to touch her, leading to sexual intercourse. The girl felt increasingly tired after smoking, which was when the sexual acts took place.

Law enforcement officials first arrested Thomas in November 2015 in connection with the first girl, denying any sexual relationship. His arrest was followed by another in December when allegations involving the second girl surfaced. Throughout the proceedings, Thomas maintained his innocence, denying all accusations.

Further investigations revealed disturbing evidence, including the discovery of 17 indecent images of one of the girls stored on a computer in a folder labeled “well well.” These images depicted her in various stages of undress, highlighting the severity of his misconduct.

Before his trial, Thomas pleaded guilty to seven counts, including engaging in sexual activity with a child, inciting a child to engage in sexual acts, possessing indecent photographs of a minor, and possession of cannabis. The court heard that Thomas had a history of similar offenses, having been previously arrested for a comparable scenario involving another teenager just weeks prior to the incidents with the two 14-year-olds.

Judge Thomas Crowther QC addressed Thomas directly, condemning his actions and emphasizing the breach of trust and the harm caused to the victims. He stated, “You had effectively been warned off, but you simply continued thinking only of yourself and your pleasure. Whatever your level of maturity, you have an adult sexual appetite.”

As part of his sentence, Daniel Thomas was sentenced to ten years in prison. Additionally, the court imposed restraining orders to prevent any contact with his victims and a sexual harm prevention order to protect the community from further offenses.
