NORTHAMPTON MAN DANIEL MAINS STALKER AND IMITATION GUN THREATENER CAUGHT IN SHOCKING INCIDENT
In a disturbing series of events that unfolded in Northampton, a local mother demonstrated remarkable bravery when she confronted a man armed with what appeared to be a real firearm, attempting to threaten her and her family. The incident took place on the afternoon of November 27, 2020, and was part of a troubling pattern of stalking and harassment involving her 14-year-old daughter.
Over the course of several weeks, Daniel Sebastian Mains, a 21-year-old resident of Bidders Close in Northampton, had been following the young girl on four separate occasions.
His persistent stalking culminated in two alarming visits to her family home between October 8 and November 28, 2020.
The situation escalated on the day in question when Mains arrived at the girl's residence and knocked on the door.
When the mother answered the door, she was confronted by Mains, who was holding what appeared to be a loaded firearm.
The weapon, which was later confirmed to be an imitation, was pointed directly at her as he attempted to force his way inside the home.
Despite the danger posed by the weapon, the mother acted swiftly and courageously, pushing Mains away from the door.
Fearing for her safety and that of her family, she managed to fend off the attacker, who then fled the scene.
Following the incident, authorities were promptly alerted.
Mains was arrested and subsequently charged with possessing an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence, as well as stalking that caused serious distress.
His actions caused significant alarm within the Northampton community, especially given the context of the ongoing harassment of the young girl.
Initially, Mains was scheduled to stand trial in the near future.
However, he unexpectedly changed his plea to guilty.
On June 10, at Nottingham Crown Court, he was sentenced to 20 months in prison, suspended for two years.
This sentence reflects the seriousness of his actions and the impact they had on the victim and her family, highlighting the importance of addressing stalking and threats involving imitation firearms in the community.
