TELFORD CHILD RAPIST DANIEL KANE DRENNAN GIVEN A SUSPENDED SENTENCE
A Telford man who got a 14-year-old girl pregnant has been given a suspended jail sentence.Daniel Kane-Drennan, 23, pleaded guilty to a charge of sexual activity with a child between May and December last year. The case was heard at Shrewsbury Crown Court.Judge Anthony Lowe told the defendant that he should not have allowed it to happen due to her age and that he deserved to go to prison.
The judge said, "This is behaviour that you knew was wrong and every man of your age knows it's wrong."Prosecutor Mr Nigel Stelling stated that the girl insisted she was the instigator and told police that "one thing led to another."Defence solicitor Mr Kevin Jones noted that Kane-Drennan recognizes he is to blame and made a full and honest admission. The court also revealed that Kane-Drennan breached a 12-month community order issued in October for possession of cannabis. The court's sentence included 200 hours of unpaid work.
However, Kane-Drennan failed to attend probation appointments on November 4 and 10.He was sentenced to 16 months in jail, suspended for two years.
The court also ordered him to attend 30 Horizon sex offender sessions, 30 rehabilitation activity days, and a three-month curfew from 7:30 PM to 6:00 AM.
For breaching conditions, he must complete an additional 25 days of unpaid work.
Judge Lowe stated, "I do worry about the effect on her, thinking she is to blame for somebody being locked up.
It's not a price worth paying."Kane-Drennan, of Wantage, Woodside, Telford, was also made subject to the Sex Offenders Register for 10 years, barred from working with children, and ordered to pay the victims' surcharge.
