In a disturbing turn of events, a family in Luton was left devastated when they uncovered the disturbing truth about their long-lost son, Daniel Joslin. What was supposed to be a heartfelt reunion quickly spiraled into a nightmare as the family discovered that Joslin, now 28 years old, was a convicted paedophile. The revelation came to light during a visit arranged by Joslin, who had previously been fostered as a baby, as he sought to reconnect with his biological parents.

According to court proceedings at Bournemouth Crown Court, Joslin had used the internet to locate his biological family, employing social media platforms such as Facebook. Under the guise of a false name, he managed to establish contact with the unsuspecting couple. An arrangement was made for Joslin to visit their home in October of the previous year, specifically on October 16.

During his visit to the family’s residence, Joslin, who was staying on Crawley Green Road in Luton, accessed a computer belonging to the teenage daughter of the household. It was during this unauthorized use that he downloaded three indecent images and two videos featuring young girls. The teenage girl, upon discovering the obscene material, immediately alerted her father, leading to a series of investigations.

Further inquiries revealed that the family only became aware of Joslin’s criminal background after conducting a search on a website search engine. This search uncovered that Joslin was a registered sex offender, a fact that shocked and horrified the family members.

The court also heard details of Joslin’s criminal history. In 2005, he was convicted of indecently assaulting a girl under the age of 16. Following his arrest, Joslin attempted to shift blame onto the teenage girl, claiming she was responsible for the material he viewed. He admitted to five counts of making indecent images and one count of failing to surrender to custody. It was clarified during the proceedings that Joslin did not share the images but only viewed them briefly, not fully comprehending the age of the children involved.

In his defense, Joslin’s legal representatives pointed out that he had entered early guilty pleas and had not targeted random individuals. They emphasized that he had not shared the images, only viewing them for a short period, and claimed he was unaware of the children’s ages in the material.

Having found his biological family, Joslin expressed that he had “burnt his bridges” with them and did not expect their forgiveness. The court, after considering all evidence, sentenced Joslin to nine months in prison. Additionally, a sexual offences prevention order was imposed, prohibiting him from working with children, accessing the internet, or having contact with anyone under 18. Joslin is also required to register as a sex offender for the next ten years, marking a significant and serious consequence for his actions.
