MIDDLESBROUGH MAN DANIEL CHAPMAN FACED WITH PRISON AFTER POSSESSING NEARLY 400 INDECENT CHILD IMAGES
In October 2017, Daniel Chapman, a resident of Middlesbrough, was accused of possessing almost 400 indecent images and clips depicting children.The images included those of toddlers aged between two and three years old, and featured some of the most serious Category A material, such as images showing the rape of children, the court was told.
Prosecutor Emma Atkinson stated that there were a large number of victims represented in the material.
Despite the serious nature of these charges, Chapman was granted unconditional bail and left court after the hearing, as his sentencing was postponed.
A pre-sentence report is required for the 31-year-old, who resides in South Court and was previously unconvicted.
He first pleaded guilty at Teesside Magistrates' Court to possessing the illicit material.
Judge Tony Briggs, handling the case, warned that all sentencing options, including custody, remain available, and emphasized that a pre-sentence report was necessary, especially given the inclusion of some of the most severe images.
The new sentencing date was set for October 30.
