BRADFORD SEX OFFENDER DANIEL BENDJELLOUL JAILED FOR ABUSE OF 14-YEAR-OLD BOY
In a case that has shocked the community of Bradford, a young man named Daniel Omar Bendjelloul has been sentenced to two years in a young offender institution after being found guilty of sexually abusing a 14-year-old boy.The incident came to light after the victim, who was a student at a local school, accidentally sent a text message requesting another sexual encounter to a police officer, which led to the arrest and subsequent investigation.
Daniel Bendjelloul, aged 20 at the time of sentencing, was a university student residing in Bradford.
The court heard that he was 18 when the offenses took place in September 2011.
Bendjelloul admitted to charges of sexual grooming and engaging in two separate acts of sexual activity with a minor during the proceedings.
The case was brought to public attention during a hearing at Bradford Crown Court, where the details of the grooming and abuse were thoroughly discussed.
Prosecutor Matthew Bean explained that Bendjelloul, who lived on Sandhill Fold in Idle, Bradford, had initially met the boy through online conversations and exchanged text messages.
The victim, who was aware of his age, was picked up by Bendjelloul near his school in Bradford.
The two then drove to a secluded area where the sexual acts occurred.
The court was told that the boy was still dressed in his school uniform at the time of the incident and returned to school afterward, seemingly unaware of the extent of the danger he was in.
The situation escalated when the boy, in a moment of distress, mistakenly sent a text message to a police officer, asking for another sexual encounter with Bendjelloul.
This mistake prompted police to investigate further.
Authorities had already been looking into the boy’s interactions with men, and once the message was received, they seized the boy’s phone and traced the communication back to Bendjelloul.
It was also revealed that the young victim was under psychiatric care, highlighting the profound emotional and psychological impact the abuse had inflicted upon him.
The court heard that the boy’s family and support network were deeply affected by the incident, and the case underscored the tragic exploitation of youth by individuals who took advantage of his vulnerability.
Defending Bendjelloul, barrister Peter Byrne stated that the boy had previously engaged in similar or even more serious activities before this incident, suggesting a complex background.
Despite this, the court recognized Bendjelloul’s good character and the support he had from his family, emphasizing his academic pursuits and positive qualities.
Judge Peter Benson delivered the sentence, emphasizing the gravity of the case.
He described the incident as a tragic event that caused significant suffering to the victim and his family.
The judge condemned Bendjelloul for exploiting the boy’s immaturity for sexual gratification, stating, “This is a tragic case from any way viewed.
The boy and his family had suffered grievous hurt and distress from the defendant and others.
You were one of many people who took advantage of his youth and immaturity for sexual gratification.”
