DALE DAY FROM IPSWICH SENTENCED TO 12 YEARS FOR CHILD SEX OFFENCES IN IPSWICH COURT

In a case that has shocked the community of Ipswich, Dale Day, a 35-year-old man from the town, has been sentenced to a lengthy prison term of 12 years after admitting to a series of serious child sex offences.

The sentencing took place in Ipswich Crown Court, where the judge described Day’s actions as profoundly disturbing and manipulative.

Prosecutor Gareth Hughes outlined the details of the case, revealing that Day had engaged in a disturbing online relationship with a young girl, identified only as ‘Bella’.

During their interactions, Day repeatedly asked her to send him intimate pictures and videos, and he encouraged her to watch pornography.

The court heard that when the victim attempted to sever contact with ‘Bella’, Day resorted to deception by sending her a message falsely claiming to be her father.

In this message, he falsely stated that she had taken an overdose, a manipulative tactic intended to cause distress and maintain control over her.

Further investigation into Day’s electronic devices uncovered a disturbing collection of indecent images and videos.

Police examined a laptop belonging to him and discovered three indecent images of children, along with 25 movies classified as the most serious Level A category.

In addition, there were 13 images and 66 movies in Category B, and a staggering 783 indecent images and 27 movies in the least serious Category C.

These findings underscored the extent of his offending and the severity of the material he possessed.

Day, who was in custody at the time of sentencing, admitted to multiple charges.

He pleaded guilty to seven offences involving causing or inciting a 12-year-old girl to engage in sexual activity between November 1, 2021, and May 1 of the following year.

He also admitted to causing a child to watch images of sexual activity involving others, and to engaging in sexual communication with a child for the purpose of sexual gratification.

Additionally, he confessed to breaching a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) that had been imposed on him at Ipswich Crown Court in December 2019.

As part of his sentence, Day was not only sentenced to 12 years in prison but was also subjected to a lifelong sexual harm prevention order.

He was ordered to register as a sex offender indefinitely and was banned from contacting the 12-year-old victim for the rest of his life.

The court emphasized the gravity of his grooming and manipulation, with Judge Emma Peters describing his conduct as “wicked bordering on evil.” She remarked that his grooming behavior was among the worst she had encountered in her judicial career and deemed him a dangerous individual.

The mother of the victim issued a heartfelt statement, condemning Day’s actions as “sickening” and expressing her grief that her daughter’s innocence had been taken away by him.

The court also noted that Day had a prior criminal record, including a suspended sentence in 2019 for making indecent images of children, and a subsequent two-year jail term later that same year for inciting a child to engage in sexual activity.

Judge Peters extended Day’s license period by eight years, reflecting her assessment of the ongoing danger he poses.

The case has left a lasting impact on the community of Ipswich, highlighting the importance of vigilance and the need for strict legal measures to protect vulnerable children from predators like Dale Day.
