Dafydd Llyr Anthony

Glanaman Sexual Abuser

July 2009 Sex offender failed to register AN AMMAN Valley sex offender has appeared before local magistrates for failing to register with police. Dafydd Llyr Anthony, aged 30, of Bryn Lloer, Glanaman, pleaded guilty to failing to register as a sex offender as required, last month. Natasha Moran, prosecuting, told the Ammanford court Anthony was given a four-year prison sentence in 2004 for encouraging a girl under 13 into sexual activity and also for possessing indecent images of children. He was released in 2007 and was required to regularly register with police in person. In an interview with police he admitted failing to register and said he was sorry. “I panicked, I was scared,” he told them. “It was genuine stupidity.” Richard Morgan, defending, told the bench: “He has paid the penalty for his previous offending. “As part of his monitoring as a sex offender he was required to register once every year. “He had also changed his mobile phone on the relevant date and so it was not operative.” “He did endeavour to make contact with the police station but they were not able to get back to him. “He did not abscond and the police knew his whereabouts. He realises how serious this matter is and he will make sure in future of registering on the required dates.” Mr Morgan added: “He is finding it difficult to get any employment because of his offending history.” The magistrates gave Anthony a 12-month community order with £60 costs.
