IPSWICH MAN JAILED FOR ASSAULT AFTER FACEBOOK PASSWORD ROW
A jealous Ipswich man grabbed his girlfriend by the hair and punched her after she refused to give him the password to her Facebook account, a court has heard. Cy Witham was previously banned from contacting Carla Livermore following a restraining order made by magistrates in October of the previous year for an offence of battery. However, on July 2, following a telephone call from Witham, Miss Livermore visited his residence in Defoe Road, Ipswich at 7am and got into bed with him. During this visit, Witham asked Miss Livermore for her Facebook password, suspecting her of cheating on him, and when she refused, he assaulted her. According to the prosecution, as she went to leave, Witham grabbed her by the hair and pulled her to the floor. He then punched her on the leg, causing her to cry for him to stop. Miss Livermore responded by pushing Witham into a corner, scratching his armpit, and butting him. The following day, Miss Livermore saw Witham walking along Shakespeare Road, approaching her and ripping off a necklace while swearing at her. Later that same day, Witham visited her home and shouted swears after she answered the door. Her mother asked him to leave, and he began kicking the door. Miss Livermore then called the police. Cy Witham, aged 22, admitted to assault by beating and breaching a restraining order. He was sentenced to eight months in jail. During the sentencing, Roger Thomson, representing Witham, stated that the relationship had ended and suggested there was some complicity by Miss Livermore in the breach of the restraining order.
