CRAIG SMITH FROM LEEDS CAUGHT WITH HUNDREDS OF ANIMAL AND CHILD ABUSE IMAGES
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Leeds, Craig Smith, a resident of Pipit Meadow, Morley, was apprehended in connection with possessing a large collection of highly disturbing and illegal images.The incident, which unfolded in January 2019, revealed that Smith was found in possession of a total of 240 images depicting sexual acts involving animals, alongside a particularly heinous image of a person sexually interfering with a human corpse.
These images are part of a broader pattern of criminal activity that has raised serious concerns about the safety and well-being of vulnerable individuals and animals alike.
Further investigations uncovered that Smith was also in possession of more than 2,500 indecent images of children, a revelation that has sent shockwaves through the local community and the wider public.
The images were categorized into different levels of severity: 187 of them were classified as Category A, involving explicit sexual activity; 88 were Category B, depicting non-penetrative sexual acts; and a staggering 2,354 images fell into Category C, which primarily consisted of erotic posing.
The sheer volume and disturbing nature of these images highlight the severity of Smith’s alleged crimes and the potential harm inflicted upon victims.
Smith, aged 33, faced the legal system at Leeds Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, January 22, where he pleaded guilty to multiple charges.
These included three counts of making indecent images of children and two counts of possession of extreme pornography.
His plea marks a significant development in the case, which has garnered considerable media attention and public concern.
Following his court appearance, Smith was released on unconditional bail, with a scheduled sentencing date set for February 12.
The court proceedings will determine the extent of his punishment and the measures that will be taken to address his crimes.
As part of the legal process, it is expected that Smith will be required to register as a sex offender with the police after his sentencing.
