PETERBOROUGH MAN CRAIG RYAN JAILED FOR DISTRIBUTING CHILD ABUSE IMAGES

A paedophile has been jailed after he was found distributing indecent images of children online.

Craig Ryan, 53, was arrested at his home in Silverwood Road, Millfield, Peterborough, in August last year after police were notified he had uploaded indecent images of children to an online messaging platform. During the investigation, authorities seized multiple devices which contained over 300 indecent images and videos of minors, some depicting bestiality. Among these, 61 images and videos were classified as category A, indicating the most severe level of depravity.

On April 16, Ryan appeared before Peterborough Crown Court and pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including three counts of making an indecent photograph of a child, three counts of distributing such images, possessing extreme pornographic material involving animals, and sending an indecent message. The court sentenced him to two years and four months in prison.

PC Shane O'Brien, who led the investigation, commented: “Ryan’s crimes prove he poses a serious threat to children. He admitted his offences and claimed he was expecting police to come knocking on his door any day, but continued to offend for reasons he was unable to explain. This case shows how seriously this type of offending is taken by us and the criminal justice system.”
