Craig Dodson, 23, grabbed the victim by the throat at the junction of Gresham Road and Harvey Road, in Cambridge, at about 10pm on 16 January.
He also pushed her head into a wall and shouted he was going to kill her.
Officers arrested Dodson and discovered he was already on bail following a previous arrest for sharing a private video of the victim on Snapchat on 29 November.
On Friday (23 May), at Peterborough Magistrates’ Court acting as a crown court, Dodson, of Whitgift Road, Teversham, was jailed for 14 months and two weeks, having pleaded guilty to intentional strangulation, sharing an intimate photo or film of a person in an intimate state intending to cause alarm, distress or humiliation and three counts of assault.
