A man has received a prison sentence after confessing to sexual crimes committed against two young girls.
Connor Chard, aged 22 and from Yeovil, was sentenced at Taunton Crown Court, which was held at North Somerset Magistrates’ Court, on Tuesday, April 14.
He admitted to three counts of sexual assault involving penetration of a child under 13, along with an additional charge of the same offence against a second girl.
Both victims were just seven years old when the abuse commenced at locations within Yeovil.
During the sentencing, His Honour Judge Cook praised the victims and their families, emphasizing the profound effect Chard’s actions had on them.
The court learned that Chard subjected one girl to repeated sexual assaults from 2019 to 2022.
The second girl was able to confide in her family shortly after her first assault by Chard in 2024.
Both victims showed courage in reporting the crimes to the authorities, leading to Chard’s offences being revealed to the police.
