COLIN COOPER OF MANCHESTER MEETS FORMER CHILD VICTIM IN PRISON, REVEALS PAST ABUSE

In February 2019, an unsettling incident occurred involving Colin Cooper, a predatory paedophile, who encountered one of his adult victims on the same prison wing. Cooper was incarcerated for a series of horrific crimes against children when he unexpectedly met a man he had assaulted as a boy—who himself was imprisoned for raping a young girl later in life.

The man, who felt like a child upon realizing who Cooper was, returned to his cell and was subsequently overwhelmed with emotion, breaking down in tears. Cooper, aged 67, was taken back before the courts and was later found guilty of additional historic offences.

Cooper has been convicted of over 50 sexual offences against children, spanning from the 1970s to the 2000s. The monster, formerly residing in Wythenshawe and Hattersley, forced some victims to eat raw pig's head meat when they attempted to escape. His 18 victims ranged in age from five to 12.

The man Cooper met again in prison was under 16 when he was assaulted in the 1970s. After their encounter, he came forward and recognized Cooper. It was revealed during court proceedings that the man is currently serving a lengthy sentence for raping a young girl.

Remorseless Cooper is serving an 18-year sentence received in 2011. Most recently, on Thursday, he was sentenced to an additional eight years after a jury unanimously convicted him of three counts of indecent assault and one count of gross indecency with a child—all against the same victim. This new sentence will run concurrently with his existing 18-year detention.

Manchester Crown Court was informed that Cooper, who previously used the alias Alan Makinson, has health issues and may die in prison. In a statement read by prosecutor David Bentley, Cooper’s latest victim expressed: "I know he [Cooper] stole my childhood. It has destroyed my life."

The court heard how Cooper lured victims with money and gifts, targeting vulnerable children. It was also disclosed that he subjected some victims to cruel punishments, including forcing them to eat raw pig's head meat if they tried to escape.

Previously, Cooper was sentenced to three years in 1986 after admitting to numerous child sex crimes, including rape. He then changed his name and moved addresses but continued to prey on innocent children.

Judge Timothy Smith explained that his sentencing options were limited because the recent offences were charged under laws from the 1970s. He described Cooper as "a compulsive, manipulative and predatory paedophile." About the prison encounter, the judge said: "In the course of that chance meeting following some exploration of matters, he realised that you were his abuser. That only became clear when he told you what your name was at the time, which was Alan Makinson, a name you since changed. His reaction was that he felt like a child and went back to his cell and broke down crying."

The court was also informed that the victim stated he would "never get over" what Cooper had done to him, previously residing in Sylvester Close, Hattersley.
