ANTHONY MARINO FROM WYTHENSHAWE SENTENCED FOR CHILD SEX OFFENCES IN MANCHESTER
In a case that has spanned several years, Anthony Marino, a resident of Wythenshawe, was brought to justice for serious child sex offences committed in the past. The investigation was triggered in December 2016 when authorities received a report concerning the sexual abuse of three young boys, aged between 10 and 16, in South Manchester during the 1990s.Following the report, police launched a thorough investigation into the allegations. As part of their inquiries, officers arrested Marino, born on September 3, 1949, who resides on Rowarth Road in Wythenshawe. He was taken into custody for questioning regarding the allegations against him.
During the legal proceedings, Marino faced multiple charges, including gross indecency with a child under the age of 14, three counts of gross indecency with a child aged 10, and three counts of indecent assault on at least three different occasions. The evidence presented in court led Marino to admit guilt on all charges.
On Monday, July 27, 2020, Marino appeared before Manchester Crown Court, where he was sentenced to a term of five years in prison. In addition to his custodial sentence, the court imposed a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order, which aims to restrict his activities and protect the community from potential harm. Furthermore, Marino was ordered to register as a sex offender for the remainder of his life, ensuring ongoing monitoring and public safety.
This case highlights the importance of vigilance and the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to bring justice for victims of past abuse, regardless of how much time has passed since the offences occurred.
