COLIN ALTY FROM SOUTHPORT SENTENCED FOR CHILD ABUSE IN SHOCKING CASE
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Southport, Colin Alty has been sentenced to three years in prison for serious sexual offenses involving a young boy.The incident dates back to July 2017, when Alty, then 53 years old and residing at The Causeway in Crossens, was found guilty of multiple charges following a trial.
During the court proceedings, it was revealed that Alty had committed these heinous acts against an 11-year-old victim.
The court heard that Alty himself was only 15 years old at the time of the assault, which added a complex layer to the case.
Despite his youth at the time, the severity of his actions was undeniable, and he was convicted of nine separate offenses, including attempted buggery, indecent assault, and indecency with a child.
All charges were contested by Alty, who maintained his innocence throughout the trial.
Judge Alan Conrad, QC, presided over the case and delivered the sentence.
In his remarks, the judge acknowledged Alty’s age during the offending period and his immaturity, which he said the court took into account.
However, he emphasized the gravity of the crimes committed and the impact on the young victim.
The judge also noted that Alty is otherwise considered a man of good character and has led a decent life apart from these offenses.
The case has garnered significant attention in Southport, highlighting the importance of safeguarding children and the devastating effects of abuse.
The sentencing marks a somber moment for the community, which now grapples with the reality of such a serious crime occurring within its midst.
