CLIVE ALEXANDER FROM BRIGHAM JAILED FOR CHILD PORNOGRAPHY CHARGES IN CUMBRIA
In a case that has shocked the local community of Brigham, Clive Alexander, a 54-year-old former traffic warden residing on Hill Crescent, was sentenced to two years in prison after admitting to multiple child pornography offenses. The charges stemmed from a disturbing discovery involving images and videos depicting young children, which were found on his grandchildren’s computer.Alexander appeared before Carlisle Crown Court to face the charges, pleading guilty to seven counts of possessing indecent images of children. In addition to his guilty plea, he requested that 99 other related charges be taken into consideration during his sentencing, highlighting the severity and extent of his offenses.
The investigation into Alexander’s activities was initiated after he took his computer to a repair shop located in Maryport. It was during this routine maintenance that the technician uncovered the illicit material, which included photographs of children as young as three years old. The material also contained moving video clips, further emphasizing the disturbing nature of the content.
The court proceedings revealed that Clive Alexander had a military background, having served as an army sergeant and seeking active service during the Falklands conflict. Despite his military history, the court described him as a “broken man,” indicating the profound impact of his actions on his life and reputation.
As part of his sentencing, Alexander was ordered to register as a sex offender for a period of ten years. Furthermore, he was banned from working with children, a restriction aimed at protecting the community from any potential future harm. The case has left many residents of Brigham and the surrounding areas deeply concerned about the safety of children and the importance of vigilance in safeguarding vulnerable individuals.
