CHRISTOPHER WILES INVERNESS SEX OFFENDER CELEBRATES RELEASE WITH BOOZY PARTY IN INVERNESS

In a disturbing display of shamelessness, Christopher Wiles, a convicted sex offender from Inverness, marked his recent release from prison with a reckless celebration alongside friends. Wiles, aged 51, was released last month after serving a five-year sentence for the heinous crime of raping a 17-year-old girl, the daughter of a former colleague. The incident that led to his incarceration occurred at the Culloden Moor Inn, near Inverness, where Wiles was employed as a manager at the time.

Details of the crime reveal that the teenage victim had consumed tequila, vodka, and whisky before the assault. During the trial, she testified that she was intoxicated and asleep when Wiles assaulted her. Wiles claimed in his defense that he believed he was experiencing an erotic dream and woke up to find the girl on top of him, asserting that the encounter was consensual. However, the jury unanimously convicted him of assaulting the girl while she was unconscious and intoxicated, removing her clothing, and raping her when she regained consciousness.

Despite his conviction, Wiles appeared to celebrate his freedom in a manner that many would find deeply inappropriate. Reports indicate that he hosted a boisterous gathering with friends who are campaigning for his name to be cleared. Following the party, messages appeared on his Facebook page, where friends described him as an “inspiration” and expressed their support. One message read, “Was great catchin up with u Chris!! . . real good party!! & the sausage rolls… Yum!!” Another friend commented, “You are a real inspiration to the rest of us!!” and expressed regret for leaving early, joking, “Maybe next time, the appeal celebration, I’ll hang around, get pissed and embarrass myself.”

Wiles himself posted on social media about his first weekend of freedom, describing it as “a blur” and making twisted jokes about his time in prison. He wrote, “If you were shopping in Tescos and saw me on the shelf you would not buy me. Do you want to know why? Because I am past my cell by date. Although with jokes like that you could all vote to put me back in. Still for now I’m not, I am finally on the outside breathing the . . . fresh air.”

This blatant display of celebration has sparked outrage among the public and victims’ advocacy groups, who argue that such behavior is highly inappropriate given the severity of his crimes. Wiles’s actions highlight ongoing concerns about the rehabilitation and monitoring of sex offenders after their release from incarceration, especially those convicted of serious offenses like sexual assault on minors. The case continues to draw attention to the challenges faced by the justice system in managing offenders and ensuring community safety.
