CHRISTOPHER THOMPSON BRADFORD N/A CHILD RAPIST BACK IN JAIL FOR ASSAULT AT HOUSE PARTY

In a disturbing case that has once again brought the serious issue of sexual offenses to the forefront, Christopher Thompson, a man with a long history of offending, has been sentenced to prison following an incident involving a young girl at a house party in Preston.

The events unfolded at a karaoke house gathering, where Thompson, aged 45, engaged in inappropriate conduct towards a 12-year-old girl, ultimately asking her to get into his bed for a cuddle.

Thompson’s criminal history is extensive and deeply troubling.

In 2005, he was convicted of raping and molesting two young girls, one of whom was reported to be only four years old at the time.

His previous sentence was six and a half years in prison, and he was ordered to register as a sex offender for life.

Despite this, Thompson’s recent actions demonstrate a troubling pattern of behavior, exacerbated by heavy alcohol consumption, which appeared to have triggered his latest misconduct.

During the recent court proceedings at Preston Crown Court, prosecutors outlined how Thompson had not reoffended or violated the terms of his sexual harm prevention order (SHPO) since his release from incarceration.

However, the recent incident revealed a breach of that order, which is designed to prevent him from having contact with minors.

Prosecutor Jon Close explained that Thompson had initially met the victim through her family, but he failed to disclose his previous convictions, which he was legally obliged to do under the terms of his SHPO.

The breach was first identified when police took the young girl to Thompson’s residence, where her father was present.

This occurred after concerns arose about leaving her with her mother, who was intoxicated at the time.

According to Mr.

Close, during that visit, the girl was allowed to sleep upstairs in the bedroom of Thompson’s daughter, while Thompson himself slept downstairs.

The court clarified that there was no evidence of any sexual misconduct during this initial visit.

The situation escalated during a subsequent house party attended by Thompson, the victim’s family, and Thompson himself.

The court heard that the family intended to stay overnight, with everyone going to bed around 1 a.m.

The victim did not disclose what had transpired to her parents at that time.

It was only after police learned of the incident on April 15 that they visited the family and informed them of Thompson’s status as a registered sex offender.

The family was shocked by this revelation and permitted police to speak with their daughter.

During the police interview, the girl made disclosures about Thompson’s inappropriate behavior.

She recounted how, while singing karaoke, Thompson approached her, touched her bottom, and then apologized, suggesting she should keep it a secret from her parents.

This was not the end of the troubling conduct.

Later that night, as she prepared to go to bed, Thompson, who was to sleep in the same room as her and her father, engaged her in conversation and then asked her to get into his bed for a cuddle.

The girl, feeling uncomfortable, made her excuses and went downstairs to speak with her father, asking him to come to bed with her.

Thompson’s defense lawyer, Lucy Wright, expressed remorse on behalf of her client, emphasizing that he was genuinely sorry for his actions.

Despite this, Judge Simon Newell sentenced Thompson to 14 months in prison, emphasizing the gravity of his violations.

The judge reminded Thompson that he was explicitly prohibited from having any contact with children since his 2005 conviction for rape and indecent assault, and that he was well aware of these restrictions.

Looking back at Thompson’s earlier crimes, it was revealed that he had begun abusing a girl as young as four years old in the 1980s.

He also admitted to molesting a third young girl, claiming he needed a girlfriend.

These offenses came to light in January of the previous year after one of the victims confided in her mother.

Thompson was arrested and initially denied the allegations but later pleaded guilty to six counts of indecent assault and three counts of rape.

The court ordered him to sign the sex offenders’ register for life and banned him from working with children or having unsupervised contact with minors.

Overall, the case underscores the ongoing risks posed by individuals with a history of sexual offenses and highlights the importance of strict enforcement of protective orders to prevent further harm to vulnerable children.
