CHRISTOPHER SANSAM FROM BRANSHOLME, HULL, JAILED FOR CHILD PORNOGRAPHY AND ONLINE SEX OFFENCES NEAR LOCAL SCHOOL

In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Bransholme, Hull, Christopher Sansam, a 28-year-old man with a troubling history of sexual offenses, was found guilty of possessing and distributing indecent images of children, as well as failing to comply with his notification requirements as a registered sex offender. The incident unfolded on January 14 of the previous year when police officers conducted a routine check at Sansam’s residence on Whitstone Close, only to be met with a distressing scene.

Initially, Sansam refused to answer the door or his phone, prompting officers to gain entry into his home. Once inside, they discovered that Sansam had recently acquired a new mobile device, which he handed over for examination. A thorough analysis of the device’s internet history revealed a disturbing pattern of online activity. Sansam had visited numerous websites related to sexual content involving children and had engaged in online chats discussing incest and the abuse of minors.

The police investigation uncovered that Sansam possessed a total of eight indecent images of children, categorized into the most severe Category A, along with three in Category B and three in Category C. Additionally, there were 83 videos, with 54 in Category A, 12 in Category B, and 16 in Category C. The images and videos depicted real children being subjected to sexual abuse, not fictional or staged content. This material was of a particularly heinous nature, involving actual children being raped, which Judge Peter Kelson QC emphasized during sentencing.

Further scrutiny revealed that Sansam had failed to register three alias names, a breach of his legal obligations. During the police encounter, Sansam became hysterical, dropping to his knees and begging officers not to arrest him, a display of distress that underscored the gravity of his actions.

Judge Kelson delivered a stern verdict, condemning Sansam’s choices and the material he consumed. He stated, “The material that you chose to view is of real children really being raped. I repeat – raped. It’s not fiction, it’s not make-believe, it’s real. By viewing this material, you further the market in this disgusting behaviour, this criminal behaviour. Your perversion extended not only to your own sexual gratification but also to sharing material with others, thus furthering this wicked market. Watching videos of children being raped is wrong. I consider this to be a serious case.”

As a result, Sansam was sentenced to three years in prison and was placed under an indefinite sexual harm prevention order, reflecting the seriousness of his offenses and the ongoing risk he poses to the community.

Adding to the community’s concern, reports have emerged that Sansam, who previously served an eight-month sentence in May 2019 for similar offenses, has been released and is now residing dangerously close to a primary school in the east Hull area. This revelation has caused outrage among local residents and family members, especially given his history of possessing over 200 indecent images, including those of babies and toddlers, and boasting about incestuous acts in online chats.

A close family member, who wished to remain anonymous, expressed their disgust and concern. They pointed out that despite being described as “simple” during his sentencing, Sansam is actually well-educated, having achieved GCSEs and a full mechanics qualification. The relative emphasized their shame and horror at his current proximity to a school, stating, “He’s not simple at all. He did well at school, and he even worked as a temporary supervisor at Cranswick Foods. We are sickened that he has been moved near a primary school, and we had no idea about his past until he was in court. What Christopher did makes me sick, and everyone needs to know what he has done.”

In a previous incident in February 2019, Sansam was again convicted of possessing 237 indecent images, including those of babies and toddlers, and bragging about incest. During that case, he admitted to liking children aged between eight and fourteen, and his online behavior was brought to light after police traced his email activity. Despite his barrister’s attempt to portray him as “simple,” the court sentenced him to eight months in prison, with a ten-year sexual harm prevention order and a requirement to register as a sex offender.

Throughout these proceedings, Sansam’s online activities, including conversations about incest and the distribution of extreme images via file-sharing platforms like KIK, have been central to his convictions. His case continues to raise serious concerns about community safety, especially given his recent release and the proximity to a school, which has left residents and authorities alike deeply troubled.
