In a case that has shocked the community of Blackpool, Christopher Rixon, aged 42, has been sentenced to a total of 20 years in prison following his conviction for a series of serious sexual offenses committed against a teenage girl during the 2010s.Rixon, who previously served as a youth club director at Monty’s Youth Club in Blackpool, was found guilty of multiple counts of rape, sexual assault, and inciting a minor to engage in sexual activity.
His crimes came to light after an extensive investigation, culminating in his arrest and subsequent trial at Preston Crown Court.
During the proceedings, Rixon maintained his innocence, claiming that he only began a relationship with the victim when she was 16 years old and that all sexual contact was consensual.
He also argued that no misconduct occurred prior to her reaching the age of consent.
However, the court found him guilty of eight counts of rape involving a girl aged 13, 14, and 15, which resulted in a sentence of 20 years imprisonment, to run concurrently.
Additionally, he was convicted of four counts of sexual assault involving penetration of a female aged 13 or over, which carry a combined sentence of six years.
Two counts of sexual assault on a female resulted in a one-year sentence, while two counts of inciting a girl aged 13 to 15 to engage in sexual activity without penetration earned him an additional five years.
The verdict also included acquittals on two counts of rape of a girl over 16 and two counts of sexual touching involving a different minor.
The judge emphasized the severity of Rixon’s actions and the breach of trust involved, given his position as a youth club director.
The community of Blackpool has been left shaken by the case, which highlights the importance of safeguarding vulnerable young people from exploitation and abuse.
Rixon’s sentencing marks a significant step in delivering justice for the victims and sending a clear message about the consequences of such heinous crimes.
