CHRISTOPHER MORIN JAILED FOR BRUTAL RAPE IN DONCASTER
In a case that has shocked the community of Doncaster, Christopher Morin, a 27-year-old man with a long history of violent and sexual offenses, was sentenced to life imprisonment for the brutal rape of a 14-year-old girl. The incident occurred on July 9 of this year, and the court heard how Morin, who was homeless at the time with his last known address in Wakefield, lured the young girl into an alleyway before subjecting her to a savage assault.
Judge Trevor Barber at Sheffield Crown Court described Morin’s actions as “bestial,” condemning his conduct as utterly inhumane.
Morin, who denied the charges, claimed that the sexual encounter was consensual.
However, the jury swiftly rejected his version of events, reaching a verdict of guilty in less than two hours.
The evidence presented during the trial painted a disturbing picture of a man who had deliberately targeted an innocent teenager.
The judge’s sentencing was influenced heavily by Morin’s extensive criminal record, which dates back to when he was just 13 years old.
His past convictions include multiple sex offenses and violent crimes.
In his remarks, Judge Barber emphasized the severity of Morin’s behavior, stating, “You are 27 years old and your previous offending shows you to be violent and a sexual deviant.
The conduct of this trial only serves to highlight that.
On July 9, you wanted sex and you selected a totally innocent 14-year-old girl and you terrified her and treated her with disgusting violence.
Your behaviour was simply bestial.” He further added that Morin had shown no remorse for his actions and recommended that he serve a minimum of seven years before being considered for parole.
The court was also informed that Morin’s criminal history includes a conviction at age 18 for indecent assault on a girl under 16, which resulted in a 10-month sentence at a Young Offender Institution.
His record continued to grow with convictions for burglary, handling charges, and a six-year sentence for wounding and robbery in subsequent years.
During the week-long trial, it was revealed that Morin had been in Doncaster on the night of the attack, searching for a former girlfriend and the mother of his young son, whom he had not seen for several years.
After a fruitless search and a brief encounter with a prostitute, Morin was sitting on a bench near the railway station around 11 pm when he noticed the girl walking home.
He approached her, engaged her in conversation, and managed to persuade her to follow him down an alleyway.
Once out of sight from passersby, Morin subjected the girl to a violent rape that only ended when a concerned pedestrian became suspicious of her screams for help.
As the girl begged for assistance, Morin fled the scene, but not before later engaging in sex with a prostitute he encountered shortly afterward, with whom he had sex three times.
The court heard that Morin’s offending behavior began at a very young age, and his criminal record is marked by a series of serious convictions involving both sexual offenses and violent crimes.
His history includes a 1995 conviction for having sex with a girl under 13, as well as multiple sentences for assault, robbery, and other violent acts.
This pattern of behavior underscores the dangerous and persistent nature of Morin’s criminal conduct, which has spanned over a decade and a half.
Judge Barber’s sentencing reflects the gravity of Morin’s crimes and his dangerousness to society.
The community of Doncaster and the wider region are left to grapple with the aftermath of this disturbing case, which highlights the importance of vigilant law enforcement and the ongoing need for support for victims of sexual violence.
