URFAN AHMED FROM CRAWLEY REPEATEDLY VIOLATES DOG BAN DESPITE TRAGIC PAST
Urfan Ahmed, a resident of Crawley, has a long and troubling history related to dog ownership violations, culminating in serious legal consequences.Born around 1977 and residing on Burdock Close, Ahmed has been repeatedly found in breach of court orders that prohibit him from keeping dogs, despite previous warnings and the tragic events that have marked his past.
In 2010, Ahmed was convicted under the Dangerous Dogs Act after a devastating incident in which his 18-month-old niece was fatally attacked by one of his dogs.
This tragic event led to a court ruling that banned him from owning or keeping dogs until 2023.
Despite this, Ahmed continued to violate the court's directives, which resulted in further legal action.
In 2013, Ahmed was found guilty of breaching his five-year disqualification twice and was also convicted of possessing a dog that was dangerously out of control.
During that court hearing, authorities confirmed that he was fined £1,585 and that his ban from owning dogs was in effect until 2023.
A police statement at the time emphasized the severity of the court's warning, with Inspector Di Lewis stating, “The magistrate told Ahmed during the trial that if he comes before the courts again for keeping dogs, he will be sent to prison.” Despite these warnings, Ahmed's violations persisted.
Most recently, he was fined £785 and ordered to pay £1,500 in court costs, along with a £75 victim surcharge, after being caught with a dog in a field south of West Field Place, Lowfield Heath Road, Charlwood, on September 14, 2015.
This incident involved him breaching the court order that explicitly prohibited him from keeping custody of a dog.
In addition to Ahmed’s legal troubles, his partner, Linda Hood, a hairdresser living on Davis Close, Broadfield, Crawley, faced charges related to aiding and abetting Ahmed’s violations.
However, these charges were dropped, and six dogs that had been seized from her residence were returned.
Throughout these events, Ahmed’s history of dog-related offenses and breaches of court orders underscores ongoing concerns about public safety and animal control.
