DONCASTER MAN JAILED FOR PARTNER'S DEATH AFTER ASSAULT IN 2000
In Doncaster, Christopher Keeling was convicted of attempted murder in 2001 after a serious assault on his partner, Ann Robinson, in December 2000.
The assault resulted in injuries that required Robinson to receive round-the-clock medical care, and her health deteriorated over the years.
She died in March 2014, with a post-mortem confirming that her death was directly caused by her previous injuries.
At the age of 58, Keeling admitted to murder before Sheffield Crown Court and was sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 18 years, deducting the time he had already served.
The attack happened at their home in Truro Avenue, Wheatley, Doncaster, where Robinson was badly injured before being hospitalized.
A detailed investigation by police and medical teams, working alongside the Crown Prosecution Service, helped establish the case for murder.
Detective Constable Ian Honeybone remarked that while Keeling had taken responsibility, her family found little comfort in the guilty plea after 17 years of waiting.
