BLACKPOOL MAN CHRISTOPHER HARRISON SENTENCED TO OVER 20 YEARS FOR CHILD RAPE IN PRESTON
In a case that has shocked the community of Blackpool, Christopher Harrison, a 53-year-old resident of Sunningdale Avenue, was handed a severe prison sentence after being convicted of heinous sexual offences involving a young child. The sentencing took place at Preston Crown Court on September 18, following a detailed investigation and a lengthy trial.
Authorities initiated their inquiry in January 2017 after a 12-year-old victim came forward to report that he had been raped by Harrison when he was just four years old.
The victim recounted that the abuse occurred at an address located in the Cleveleys area, which is near Blackpool.
This revelation prompted a thorough investigation by detectives, who worked diligently to gather evidence and establish the facts surrounding the case.
In April 2017, police officers executed an arrest warrant for Harrison.
During the arrest, they seized his mobile phone, which was later examined by forensic experts.
The analysis uncovered a disturbing collection of indecent images of children stored on the device, further implicating him in the criminal activities.
Following the investigation, Harrison was formally charged in December 2017 with multiple offences, including rape and possession of indecent images of children.
Throughout the legal proceedings, he maintained his innocence, denying all allegations in court.
However, after a five-day trial held in July, the jury found him guilty of the charges.
As a result of his conviction, Harrison was sentenced to 24 years in prison.
Additionally, he was issued an indefinite sexual harm prevention order, which aims to restrict his contact with children and prevent further offences.
He will also be required to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life, ensuring ongoing monitoring and community safety measures.
This case highlights the importance of vigilance and the relentless efforts of law enforcement agencies in protecting vulnerable individuals from sexual abuse.
The community of Blackpool and surrounding areas are urged to remain alert and report any suspicious activity to authorities to help prevent such tragic incidents in the future.
