HEARTBREAK, ANGER AND NIGHT SWEATS FOR VICTIM AS CHILD CRUELTY COUPLE RELEASED FROM JAIL
A couple who subjected children to horrific physical and psychological abuse, have been released from prison.Christopher Dennington, 53, served 40% of his six-year prison term.
A number of children were put under the couple's care almost 20 years ago - but the victims later reported the horrific abuse they suffered in the Dennington's Darlington home.
Christopher stood watching - and did nothing to help the children.
One of the victims says social workers came round on a few occasions - "but the way they (the Denningtons) looked at me when I went in, I knew they would beat the s*** out of me if I spoke up about what was happening." Christopher, who worked periodically as a maintenance man for a plumbing firm, had spent all but £1,000 of the £58,000 trust fund left to him by his dad.
Christopher's barrister described him as a, "vulnerable adult who has difficulty processing information when he is stressed." The man says he couldn't do anything when Christopher Dennington used his trust fund to buy a brand new £20,000 Skoda Octavia for himself.
Dennington later said he had spent the money on things for the boy's bedroom.
When he was 16, the victim said that Christopher's mum came to live with them, in their home, and the opportunity to run away came.
He thinks that although his "nana" had Alzheimer's, she knew what was going on, and she unlocked the windows, so he could climb out one night.
Christopher routinely kept them locked at night to stop the children escaping.
The teen fled to a college friend's house, and later to his sister's.
He reported the abuse to the police.
