VICTIM'S COURAGE COMMENDED AS DONCASTER ABUSER JAILED FOR COERCIVE CONTROL
A woman’s abuser from Doncaster has been jailed after subjecting her to years of violence, threats, and controlling behavior. The perpetrator, Christopher Dee, also known as Christopher Williams and formerly residing on Nelson Road in Edlington, was found guilty in Sheffield Crown Court of coercive control as well as threats of property damage.
His abusive conduct dates back to 2013, and he was apprehended in February 2021 following the victim’s report to authorities.
While released on bail, Dee breached the conditions by repeatedly harassing her and making threats to hurt her, which led to his re-arrest.
Dee was sentenced to four and a half years in prison.
Detective Constable Alexandra Owen expressed her satisfaction with the sentence, stating that Dee had inflicted terror through years of controlling and violent behavior.
She highlighted that although the imprisonment cannot erase the pain caused, it could bring the victim closer to healing and offer her a sense of closure.
Owen also commended the victim’s courage in reporting and urged those suffering from any form of abuse to reach out for assistance, reassuring them that help is available and they are not alone.
